We're Here to Serve and Protect

Serve and protect what exactly? Besides the environment. Personally, I don't really care if police cars are environment friendly. I'd want the car to kick some dude's ass, not bruise him into submission (This, of course, is in my fake world where cops take down people by driving over them).

Behold, the new police cars at Northern Illinois Univesity. The mean hybrid, Toyota Prius, is capable of 0-60mph in 8 minutes and I hear the Sport Package comes with a cup holder. It should also be noted that the K-9 units will now be using Shih-Tsu's as their dog of choice. It is hoped that the perpetrator will be paralyzed by the dogs overwhelming cuteness, giving units enough time to take the bastard down. Good work, Princess.

While I'm sure this is saving the school a buttload of money by not driving those tanks of crown-vics, it still looks ridiculous. On the plus side, It's probably more embarassing to be arrested and crammed into a Tylenol GelCap than to be placed into the roomy backseat of a Crown-Vic. I'm guessing it handles corners a hell of a lot better too ( that's just a hunch though). Oh, and it gets incredible gas mileage too, something like 55 or 60 mpg. This is a must have since the entire campus covers a whole 1.2 square miles.

Perhaps it's all part of their grand plan to begin patroling the hallways.

All-in-all, I'm sure the benefits outweigh the costs. But man, what a dorky looking thing.
